So it looks like most people want to read a translation of this article. It's a cute article, even if Jun did use a slang that none of my friends were familiar with. But that's what google is for! MWA! ENJOY!

Ginza Feb. 2009 The Beginning of the Relax Mode: Matsumoto Jun of 2009
The tumultuous year of 08 has ended, in the new year, what side of "Matsumoto Jun" will he show us?
While he wears some of the Spring/Summer designs of the top brands, the answer to the previous question might be hidden within.

One of Matsumoto's favored brand is Lanvin, and the relax mood of the ephemeral spring/summer collection. He complimented with, "It's not something that I can wear casually. But the fabrics have made me feel very satisfied. *laughs*"

"I own some small goods from this brand, but I have never worn a full outfit based solely on it. The fabrics, the silhouette, and the rough atmosphere makes it really easy to wear." (The brand, for those curious, is D-squared)

"Dior has a lot of very tight-fitting items. When I decide on something that needs to fit like a glove, I rely very heavily on Dior."

"Isn't this kind of strange!?" Even though Jun seemed uncomfortable, he still managed to pull off the androgynous look splendidly. This spring, the relaxed look like pajamas is a trend for women as well. (The brand is Ann Demeulemeester)

"This checkered [blazer,] it's cute! Every season, I always think that Junya [Watanabe]'s clothes are beautiful." This seems to be another brand that Jun is interested in. (The brands he wore are Comme des Garçons and Junya Watanabe.)

That day, Matsumoto Jun's brown jacket was torn(!); he showed up in a checkered shirt and suede pants.

"I'm wearing a lot of vintage today. Recently, I'm trying to project a softer image. If I have to chose between a black piece of clothing vs. a brown piece of clothing, I'd be more incline to go for the brown, and comfortable clothing. Today is like that too. Especially since it's a fashion spread, if I pick my clothes based on what's hip*, I would come to dislike the outfit. *laughs*"

It is not only his clothes that contribute to his gentle aura, it probably also has to do with the year that he has had. From movie premieres to concerts, it has been an extremely busy year for him with the combination of the fact that he also had to film end of the year specials for the various shows he appears in. It is only the feeling of ease that he showcases. So what type of action will we see from him in 2009?

"Until I'm 30, I think running [full speed ahead] would be better, but, it could be in the pace of walking with a carefree spirit, and then sprinting full speed ahead too. I don't know in what way I'd run yet, right now, I'm still lost. Last year was an extremely good year, from work to lifestyle, I have the impression that it was a step up. This year, I get an even stronger feeling that it is an important year. It is simply intuition at this point. But I'm the type who trusts in his instincts very strongly. Rather, it is probably though luck and intuition that I got to this point. *laughs*"

He doesn't seem like that type, right? Rather, everyone knows that he hates doing his job half heartedly. Even in a big dome, it is hard to feel any sense of closeness to the performer, on the one hand, we see what a spectacular live he puts up, but on another scale, it is also a widening of the horizon for this actor. So does he think that he was born for his current job?

"I don't think that way at all. How could I explain it? I've never done any other job but this job. Of course, I enjoy my current job, but I'm also interested in what else I could do in the future. Like, people who have always watched me, I wouldn't say to them, 'Please always support me, okay?' Of course, I'm extremely delighted that people give me encouragements and support, and the fact that we get to grow up together. But the interaction between individuals could also be fleeting, and it's okay if they only hold a mild interest in me. I'm more concern with, what can I communicate to them? What is the impact of my words to them? Of course, being obsessed is fine too... As for me, I can't return anything to them aside from my work."

Disinterested, is what I can discern from what he's saying, but consciously, even so, he does not give off that coldness. His attitude towards work and fans, is nothing but earnest.

He has depth to his thoughts, and so of course, life style wise, he would certainly give off that maturity.

"It started about half a year ago probably. I'd go home, and enjoy the time in which I drink alone. Even though there's only one chair in my kitchen, I'd sit in that chair, and drink about 1 to 2 glasses of whiskey on the rocks. I'd sit there and think about tomorrow comfortably or I wouldn't think about anything at all. During that time, I wouldn't put on music either. I like spaces that are permeated in quietness. I'm not the type to turn on the sound as soon as I get home. I also watch TV. Like news and variety shows, I'd watch shows that I go on to check them over. But I'm not the type to become completely absorbed in the shows that I go on. I'd say stuff like, 'Aiba really makes Arashi shows amusing, right?' Even though I've been watching them all along. *laughs*"

*He used the word "バッキバキ" in this sentence, and to the best of my abilities (and my friends') it is a slang mostly used by geeks/nerds to describe what's hip/in style. So if anyone knows what it really means, feel free to correct me.

MatsuJun drinking whiskey alone in the kitchen. Sounds like the people at Cut have their next photoshoot idea!

I'm sorry Riv, I closed the poll when I finished translating. It was a very short article, so it didn't take a very long time (and it was a good distraction from writing my study proposals.) XD

Sounds like it! I wonder what brand Jun drinks? I'm more of a whiskey with coke kind of girl myself.

I would say Johnny Walker Blue, but Jun is fussy and he probably goes for smaller brands that not everyone drinks that are really well-reviewed in whiskey magazines (do they even have whiskey magazines? Well, if anyone has them, it's the Japanese.. XD)

Johnny Walker Blue... umm... I've never tried that. We have a bottle of Jack Daniels in the house and I'm really tempted to go out for a Coca Cola run right now so I can enjoy some solitary drinking myself.

I've tried some of my coworker's at a work dinner XD I mean, there's a definite difference in smoothness when you go from cheap to expensive, but I don't know if I can really tell the difference between a $50 bottle and a... well, whatever Blue costs (I think close to $200). The first whiskey I ever saw came in a plastic bottle though and smelled like turpentine, so I'm pretty sure everything else is worlds better XD

Will you wear a leopard print bathrobe? Because you know Jun does!

Ah, since I'm more a tequila kind of girl, I've only tried really expensive tequila vs really cheap tequila, and there's definitely differences. Expensive ones go down smoother... and therefore I end up drinking more. But when you're making mojitos and stuff like that... it doesn't really matter? As for whiskey, I've only ever tried Jack Daniel's. I just don't like whiskey in general. XD;;;

I only have a pink bathrobe, does that work? I do have leopard print slippers though.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm reading Sho and Miike's interview in the newest Cut. It's really amusing so far... and they haven't even spoken yet!

You should try a different whiskey! Jack Daniels is pretty harsh, though perfectly fine for whiskey and coke because can you ever really taste the alcohol through the coke? Johnny Walker Green is pretty good, and I know friends who like Maccallan and... Glenlivet? Glenfiddich?

(My friends from college are pretentious and started me out on gin and whiskey >_>)

Jun would wear a pink bathrobe.

El, you're so wise in the ways of the whiskey. We should hook up and you can show me how to truly appreciate that alcohol. Until then, tequila and champagne for me!

Ew gin, I could never get over the smell to like it.)

Would Jun wear a pink bathrobe while he writes study proposals? Because that's what I plan to do, DRUNK! HAHAHAHA

If I come visit you in Japan, I'll buy some duty-free XDDD

The smell doesn't really bother me, but I also only drink gin & tonics - I've never had it straight.

He'd wear it while doing concert proposals? XD

Oooo fun booze tiemz in Tokyo. I do enjoy that prospect. Let's see if they'll let me get in first, before we plan anything too rashly.

Yeah, I just... really hate the smell. So it's kind of hard for me to appreciate it.

That might be true. You are one smart lady! So... coke run for me, after that... some whiskey and coke. Oh nom nom nom?
